Dear Nancy and all the family,
IN MEMORIA
We have just received the sordid news,
And we grieve!
Only eight months have passed since Ricoh was here, among us,
Evoking unremembered memories of our collective childhood.
Yes, we were happy then, and now we grieve.
Life's struggle having so far reached it's term,
He has only been laid asleep in body,
And became a living soul, he has not left!
He is still with us, and yet we grieve.
Little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love,
For love he bore for all.
How oft have we laughed at all his jokes.
For many a joke had he.
How oft have we been driven to spontaneous joy;
That time is past, and all it's aching joys are now no more.
Still, life goes on, and we shall cherish our memories.
And you, you must let the moon shine on your now, solitary walk;
Your mind, a fit mansion and abode for all the memories,
fodder for after years, to be matured into sweet, healing, thoughts.
"And he rode upon a cherub and did fly:
"yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind." (Psalm, 18, 10)
you all have our deepest sympaty and thoughts in this hour of pain,
